Enabling watchdog connection in dd-wrt devices

To enable watchdog connection in dd wrt devices,

Step 1) Go to "Administration"
Step 2) Go to "Keep Alive"
Step 3) "Enable" watchdog
Step 4) Enter Interval. Screenshot example shows 360s
Step 5) Enter IP Address. My favorite Example: 8.8.8.8
To enter multiple ip address, leave a space between the ip address:
x.x.x.x y.y.y.y z.z.z.z

Enabling watchdog connection in dd-wrt devices

What it does?

This settings will check 8.8.8.8 every 360s for connectivity. If no response from 8.8.8.8, then dd wrt will reboot.

How to test?

A simple test to check it works:
Step 1) Go to "Administration"
Step 2) Go to "Keep Alive"
Step 3) "Enable" watchdog
Step 4) Enter Interval. Screenshot example shows 360s
Step 5) Enter IP Address. Enter one unused ip address

If no response from that ip address, then dd wrt will reboot.
If you are pinging to that dd wrt device, you will see "no reply or response" for a few seconds

Putty to the device and use "top" command, you should see "watchdog" process
