Pokemon Go Guide: Where to Find Magikarp and Gyarados

Pokemon Go Guide: Where to Find Magikarp and Gyarados

Pokemon Go has a lot of Pokemon for you to hunt down and catch. Some are easy to find, while others are harder. In the latter group are certain Pokemon who only appear in special places, making them much harder to find than their more common counterparts. Magikarp is one of these Pokemon, where he is common in some places, but extremely rare in others. Making things worse, Magikarp evolves into Gyarados, one of the coolest and strongest Pokemon in the game, and you need a ton of them to do this. So, we’re gonna give you some tips on where to find Magikarp and Gyarados in Pokemon Go.

Water, it’s all about water. Magikarp is a water type, but he is attached to water in a much stronger way than any others, such as Squirtle or Psyduck. The beach is the ideal spot, if you have any near you, but Magikarp seems to spawn in more of a region, than a specific spot. If you are in a city near the water, he might pop up anywhere nearby, but if there’s some large enough body of water to register as such in the game, there’s a huge chance that you’ll find Magikarp there.

Once you find a good spot be sure to visit it often, as Magikarp doesn’t seem to be classified as a rare spawn. If he pops up somewhere, the chance is that he’ll do so multiple times throughout the day. You can also find hotspots, likely near a major body of water in your town, where tons of Magikarp will spawn. Be sure to catch them all, cause you need to capture at least 100 Magikarp in order to evolve one into Gyarados.

You can still find Gyarados in Pokemon Go, but he is definitely a rare spawn. The beach seems to be the best place, but it is far from a sure thing that he’ll even appear there. Still, while hunting for Magikarp, be sure to keep an eye out for the slim chance that a Gyarados will spawn and save you from farming all those fish.

I wanna catch Shiny Magikarp!
