Electricity tariff to go up

Tariffs to increase an average of 0.3% from April 1 to June 30

SINGAPORE — Electricity tariffs will increase by an average of 0.3 per cent — or 0.07 cent per kWh — for the period of April 1 to June 30 this year, announced SP Services today (March 31).

This is due to a 1.3 per cent rise in fuel costs, added SP Services, which noted that the increase was mitigated by a reduction in non-fuel costs.

For households, the electricity tariff will increase from 25.65 to 25.73 Singapore cents per kWh, and the resulting monthly electricity bill for families living in four-room HDB flats will increase by S$0.26 on average. Tariffs for one-room flats will increase by S$0.09 on average, while that for bungalows will increase by S$1.73 on average.

SP Services says it reviews the electricity tariffs quarterly based on guidelines set by the Energy Market Authority (EMA), the electricity industry regulator.
