WEATHER OUTLOOK FOR SINGAPORE

WEATHER OUTLOOK FOR 2 - 15 June 2009

  1. During the next fortnight, the prevailing Southwest Monsoon will continue to affect Singapore and the surrounding region. The low level winds should blow predominantly from the southeast or southwest.

  2. For this period, short-duration showers with thunder are expected on 3 to 4 days between the late morning and early afternoon. In addition, widespread showers with thunder accompanied with occasional gusty winds due to "Sumatra" squalls are likely on 1 to 2 days in the predawn hours and early morning.

  3. Consecutive dry days with warm and humid conditions are typical of the Southwest Monsoon season. We can expect a few afternoons with maximum temperatures around 34 degrees Celsius. In addition, with the dry conditions in the region, Singapore may experience occasional slight haze on a few days. Rainfall for the first fortnight of June 2009 is likely to be below normal.
