SINGAPORE: Bright Hill Evergreen Home has officially opened the doors to its new premises in Punggol.
It is one of four new nursing homes the Health Ministry has completed this year as part of efforts to have aged care facilities in every neighbourhood in Singapore.
As a newly-developed nursing home, the centre said it is not only larger, but more purpose-built and operates on an enhanced set of processes to achieve its desired model of care.
Member of Parliament for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC Penny Low said: "Today's event, therefore, marks a milestone in the development of healthcare facilities, for Singaporeans residing in particular within the northeast region. This region itself is also heavily populated, and within Punggol itself, the population will be doubling. Therefore, the need for such services cannot be understated."
Member of Parliament for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC Teo Chee Hean opened the centre on Saturday.
The home was previously located in Bukit Panjang. It now has a nine-storey building in Punggol Field.
It has also expanded its capacity from 68 beds to 248 beds. The home said it is already almost at full capacity.
The home is located near Punggol waterway and features an open concept design with greenery.
Another new feature of the home is the tightly-supervised wards which include secured doors, which can only be opened with access cards.
The home said this is to ensure better security and safety of the residents, particularly for residents with dementia, without restricting their freedom to move around.
