The prevailing inter-monsoon condition in Singapore is expected to continue during the first two weeks of May 2009. The low level winds over Singapore and the surrounding areas should blow predominantly from the southeast or southwest.
During this period, short-duration showers with thunder are expected 3 to 4 days between the morning and early afternoon and on 1 to 2 days in the afternoon. In addition, widespread showers with thunder and occasional gusty winds due to 'Sumatra' squalls are likely on 1 to 2 days in the early hours and predawn.
Like April, May is also a relatively hot month. Warm and humid conditions are expected with maximum temperature in the range of 34 to 35 degrees Celsius on a few afternoons. The rainfall for the first fortnight of May 2009 is likely to be average.
