SINGAPORE : Some 5,000 people made an early start for their Lunar New Year shopping - at the three-day Electronics and Furniture Fair now on at Suntec City Mall.
One woman was in line since 3pm on Thursday, sleeping on the floor and drinking only water.
She was one of 2,000 people vying for a coupon which entitled them to purchase one of 10 appliances for S$29.
The first 1,000 also received free goodie bags.
Organisers of the event said the response has been overwhelming.
Within half an hour of the fair's opening, all the goodie bags and coupons had been snapped up.
The most popular item bought with the coupons is a 22-inch television set worth S$299.
The coupon and goodie bag deals are on for each day of the fair.

SINGAPORE: Austville Residences is proving to be a popular executive condominium.
More than 200 applications have been received for the executive condominium, as at 5pm Saturday. A total of 540 units are available.
Even before the showflats were opened at 9am Saturday, about 50 people were already waiting in line.
Applications are on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Austville Residences, located along Sengkang East Road, has an Australian resort-inspired theme.
The project features six 18-storey towers and is priced from S$620 per square foot.
Despite being located in Sengkang, its developer says the condo is easily accessible.
Chua Hock Tong, United Engineers Limited's managing director of construction division, said: "Our project is very near to the LRT station. The LRT station is within walking distance....(5-minute walk). You can take the LRT directly to the MRT. For those who drive, they can take the KPE....Within 15 minutes, you can reach Shenton Way."
