SINGAPORE : An estimated 30,000 partygoers turned up on Saturday night at Southeast Asia's biggest dance music festival - ZoukOut.

The festival celebrated its 10th anniversary, and it was the biggest turnout ever at Sentosa's Siloso Beach.

But not all were able to join in on the fun as tickets were sold out early.

Early on in the night, the mega 12-hour party saw crowds of beach-wear clad revellers dancing the night away.

Timothy Chia, Head of Marketing & Events at Zouk Management, said: "What is really important for us is the entertainment line-up. In fact, I would say it is the strongest we have ever had. For the first time, we have two headliners, normally we have one. This year we have David Guetta and Tiesto."

These renowned DJs were one reason for the high demand for tickets.

And while people partied at Siloso Beach, it was a different story outside.

One person said: "I came here especially from the university in California (and came) here early for ZoukOut and I do not have a ticket. It is so disappointing."

Another added: "I hope I can get a ticket to get in. (It is) my first time trying to get here, so I want to see what it looks like and feel the environment."

Partygoers queued for hours with the hope of getting tickets to the event.

Some even resorted to buying them online at a higher price.

One partygoer said: "We put up an ad online and someone responded."

When asked if the tickets are real, the partygoer said: ""Yes, I went to verify at Sistic. (The tickets are) real."

Zouk club had earlier warned that there were fake tickets in circulation.

Mr Chia said: "We really wish that they had bought it from authorised sources - like Sistic and Zouk itself. It is a shame people have to spend so much to get tickets which might be fake. Unfortunately, there are some disappointed people out there. The beach is only so big, and there is only so many people we can fit."

The dawn-till-dusk party saw about 45 per cent of fun-seekers coming from overseas.
