Accidentally checked "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" and opened using notepad to read the contents in cmd file.
Ended up the cmd files are opened in notepad. That is fine.... But I need to run and execute the cmd file.
So how to get the default association back?
One method:
In Windows, go to regedit,
go to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts
and delete the .cmd
I restarted my machine and try to run the cmd file. It no longer opens notepad. The cmd file can be execute!
