SINGAPORE : The number of influenza and acute respiratory infections continue to climb, remaining above the epidemic threshold.
The Health Ministry said the number of patients seeking treatment in polyclinics in the third week of this month rose to 20,702, up 13 per cent from the week before.
The dominant strain remains Influenza H1N1-A.
The ministry reiterated that the spike in cases is common during this time of year, which coincides with the winter season in the northern hemisphere.
Still, the ministry has advised the public to be vigilant and practise good hygiene.
Those in the vulnerable group - such as children, the elderly and patients with chronic illnesses - should also get vaccinated, it added.
